This Privacy Policy explains what information xdcdayz.com(“we”, “us”, “the site”) collects when you use the website, how it is used, and the choices you have. XDC DayZ is a community-run project supporting the XDC DayZ game servers. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

Information you provide by signing in

Signing in is optional. If you choose to sign in, we use one of two identity providers:

• Discord— we receive your Discord user ID, username and avatar image so we can identify your account and show supporter status.
• Steam— we receive your public Steam ID so we can link your website account to your in-game player and show your personal statistics.

We do not receive or store your Discord or Steam password. You can browse most of the site, including guides, leaderboards and tools, without signing in at all.

Gameplay statistics

Our game servers record public gameplay statistics (such as kills, deaths, playtime, distance travelled and similar figures) keyed to your in-game Steam ID. These power the leaderboards, records and personal stats pages. This data is generated by playing on the servers, not by the website itself.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically collect limited technical information when you visit — such as your approximate location (country/region), browser type, device type, pages viewed and referring page. This is used for analytics, security and to keep the site working.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for a few purposes:

• Essential cookies— required to keep you signed in and to keep the site secure. These cannot be turned off without breaking sign-in.
• Analytics cookies— help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it (see below).
• Advertising cookies— used by our advertising partner to serve and measure ads (see below).

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and usage patterns. These tools may set cookies or collect usage data such as pages visited and time on site. The information is used in aggregate and helps us decide what to build and fix.

We display advertising on this site to help cover the cost of running the servers. We use Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service provided by Google.

Third-party services we rely on

We use a number of reputable third-party providers to run the site. Each has its own privacy policy governing the data it processes:

• Google(AdSense & Analytics) — advertising and analytics.
• Vercel— website hosting and traffic analytics.
• Neon— database hosting for account and stats data.
• Discord and Steam— sign-in identity providers.
• PayPal— processing of voluntary donations. Payment card details are handled entirely by PayPal; we never see or store them.

How we use your information

• To provide leaderboards, personal stats and account features.
• To operate, secure, maintain and improve the website.
• To display advertising that helps fund the servers.
• To communicate with you if you contact us.

We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with the service providers listed above as needed to run the site.

Data retention

Account and gameplay statistics are retained while your account and in-game history are active. You can ask us to delete your website account and associated data at any time (see below).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us and we will help. You can also manage advertising preferences using the links in the Advertising section above.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be announced on our Discord.
