πŸ—ΊοΈ Map Link Info

The Map Link Hive mod, added in June 2025, lets us link separate maps together so you can travel between them carrying your gear. In practice the DLC maps are the only ones that link cleanly, and we're introducing it cautiously β€” for now it connects Chernarus and Sakhal.

It works simply: head to one of the travel points, such as this boat in Berezino (there's also a helicopter at Altar that does the same):

Look at it and you'll be prompted to open the departure terminal:

From there, choose your destination on Sakhal:

At the other end there's a matching boat (or heli) to bring you back to Chernarus. You arrive with the gear you had on the server you left, and you can bring anything back through too. The only quirk we've found is that the Chernarus map item becomes the Sakhal map when you cross over, and vice versa.

Common questions

Do you need the DLC? Yes β€” the transfer needs it. Don't even attempt it without the DLC, as you'll get stuck on the main menu and probably have to relog. This is simply because the game won't let you join a server running the official DLC unless you own it.

What if I transfer to Sakhal and then die? You respawn on Sakhal (and vice versa).

Can I build a base on both servers? Yes.

I logged out on Sakhal but want to play Chernarus β€” what happens? You have to return via one of the link terminals. If you log out on one map and try to join the other server directly, you'll load in, but once you finish queuing you'll be redirected back to the server you last logged out on.

Can I skip the wipe-night queue by starting on Sakhal? You can start playing on Sakhal, but transferring to Chernarus still needs you to queue for that transfer β€” and once you initiate it you're stuck in the queue even if you relog.

Are there bugs? It's DayZ, so probably. The mod author notes some edge cases, but it's mostly stable, and that matches our experience. As always, using a modded feature carries risk β€” don't expect compensation if the link loses you anything.

What does this mean for Sakhal? All mods must match on both servers for the link to work, so Sakhal now runs the same mods as Chernarus, and all Chernarus guides and rules apply there too. It also means more population for Sakhal.

Will there be unique items per map? Some vanilla items are unique, and we may spread a few modded items (like cassettes) between them β€” but we're careful not to disadvantage players without the DLC, so nothing game-changing will exist on Sakhal that can't be found on Chernarus. Chernarus will still have some unique things.

⚠️ Warning: do not enter a link terminal if you're in combat of any kind, including being attacked by zombies. If you're knocked unconscious during the 3-second travel countdown, the game will kill you and you'll respawn as a freshie. This isn't a bug β€” it's DayZ's anti-combat-logging measure, and it applies here because you're also disconnecting from a server.

If you get stuck because you don't own the DLC, see this Discord post.
